When you’re missing a tooth or teeth, your options aren’t only dentures or bridges. Reclaim your smile with a third option!
Dental implants are an effective and popular way to replace missing teeth. They are designed to blend in perfectly with your natural smile and are made of titanium and other materials compatible with the human body. Essentially, dental implants are posts that are surgically placed in the jaw, where they begin to function as a sturdy anchor for replacement teeth.
Normally, there are three phases to receiving an implant here at Truman Lake Dental:
- Step One: The oral surgeon surgically places the implant(s) into the jawbone.
- Step Two: Osseointegration takes place. Osseointegration means “combining with the bone,” and is what makes an implant so strong. This process takes time, so most patients need to wait several months for the implant to completely integrate before a replacement tooth can be attached.
- Step Three: Lastly, we place the artificial tooth/teeth. For a single tooth implant, your dentist will attach a dental crown, which is a new tooth, customized according to the size, shape, color and fit of your original tooth so that it blends perfectly. If we have to replace more than a single tooth, we will custom-make dentures or bridges to fit your mouth with your implants.
With dental implants, missing teeth won’t stop you from smiling!
